Head of Quality Management

Company: PRÜM Türenwerk GmbH
Period: October 1994 – June 1998
Role: Head of Quality Management

As Head of Quality Management, I was entrusted with the groundbreaking task of rebuilding the quality assurance department at PRÜM from the ground up and establishing it within the company. I started with a blank slate and created an entire department as well as a management system ready for certification.

My core responsibilities and achievements:

  • Establishment of the first quality department: I designed, founded, and managed the first dedicated quality department in the company's history.
  • Historic initial certification: I developed the entire quality management system and led the company to successful initial certification — the first door manufacturer in Germany to do so.
  • Operational excellence: I managed the entire operational quality cycle, from goods receipt (GR) to production controls and goods issue (GI) to after-sales service and highly efficient complaint management.
  • Introduction of QM controlling: To make quality measurable and controllable, I implemented a key performance indicator (KPI)-based controlling system to monitor and continuously improve quality performance.

Project impact:
The result of my development work was not only successful certification, but also the establishment of PRÜM as a recognized quality leader in the German door industry. For years, we set the German benchmark in key parameters such as:

  • Efficiency and speed of complaint processing.
  • Minimization of quality costs.
  • Effectiveness of quality control.
