Holzindustrie Hunsrück GmbH

Production Manager, Single Part Manufacturing & Material Planning

Company: Holzindustrie Hunsrück GmbH
Period: November 1992 – September 1994
Role: Head of Single-Part Production

Immediately after joining the company, where I was originally intended to work in materials planning, I was entrusted with the management of single-part production due to the sudden departure of the incumbent. I took over a department that was experiencing considerable difficulties in completing orders on time and in line with demand.

My core responsibilities and results:

  • Turnaround and efficiency improvement in the production area: By introducing structured planning processes and optimizing workflows, I was able to completely restructure the area within the first year and establish reliable, demand-driven delivery to final assembly.
  • Proactive process optimization: Building on this stable foundation, we systematically established a production buffer in the following year. This buffer enabled us to carry out further volume optimization using operational research and to further increase the overall efficiency and delivery capability of the division.
  • Material planning: In parallel with my management role, I continued to be responsible for material planning for the division and ensured the availability of necessary raw materials.
  • The resulting increase in productivity was so significant that the number of employees in the division was reduced from 29 to 22 during my time there, while maintaining the same or higher level of performance.

Project impact: In my first professional position after completing my training and studies, I transformed a low-performing division into a highly efficient and proactively managed top performer within production. I proved that I can quickly take on responsibility even under unexpected circumstances and achieve measurable success through systematic improvements.
